President Appoints Shri Ansul as Judge of Patna High Court

The President of India appoints Shri Ansul @ Anshul Raj as Judge of the Patna High Court under Article 217 of the Constitution, as per Gazette notification dated January 23, 2026.

New Delhi, January 23, 2026:
The President of India has appointed Shri Ansul @ Anshul Raj, Advocate as a Judge of the Patna High Court, in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 217(1) of the Constitution of India, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice.

The appointment has been notified through an official Gazette of India notification, dated January 23, 2026, issued by the Appointments Division of the Department of Justice. Shri Ansul @ Anshul Raj will assume office as a Judge of the Patna High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.

Appointment Under Article 217 of the Constitution

Article 217(1) of the Constitution of India empowers the President to appoint Judges of the High Courts after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the Governor of the concerned State, and, in the case of appointment of a Judge other than the Chief Justice, the Chief Justice of the High Court concerned.

The appointment of Shri Ansul @ Anshul Raj follows the established constitutional procedure and formal issuance of the Gazette notification, which is a mandatory step before the appointee assumes charge of office.

Strengthening the Patna High Court

The appointment of Shri Ansul @ Anshul Raj is expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the Patna High Court, which serves as the constitutional court for the State of Bihar. Judicial appointments play a crucial role in addressing case pendency and ensuring timely delivery of justice.

The notification was signed by the competent authority in the Department of Justice and will be published in the Gazette of India, Part I, Section 2, making it a formal and binding constitutional appointment.
